Abstract
The first part of the article addresses vocabulary, definitions, and presents sociocultural dominants that influence both alcohol and drug addictions. The author addresses the characteristics and types of alcohol and drug addiction. In the second part of the article the author presents the methodology adopted for conducting studies, and describes the characteristics of the studied group’s family environment. The third part addresses the results of studies conducted among young people living in apartment housing in a big city. The current study was aimed at finding the level of alcohol and drug consumption among young people. It also focused on identifying the reasons and circumstances of drug use. Conclusions drawn from the results of the study are an integral part of this chapter.
