Abstract
There are some oral lesions that may appear on the neonatal alveolar ridge presenting similar clinical features. Clinical differential diagnosis of bluish lesions in- cludes eruption cyst, melanotic neuroectodermal tumor, alveolar hemangioma and lymphagioma and oral melanoma. Each one of these lesions presents special clinical, radiographic and histopathological characteristics and different biological behavior, requiring different treat- ment approach. The aim of this literature review is to present and discuss these lesions so as pediatricians, pe- diatric dentists and maxillofacial surgeons, who will ex- amine the neonate, to be informed in order to diagnose them early and treat them appropriately.
