Ocimum sanctum (Tulasi) Stem Extract Mediated Size Controlled Green Synthesis of Polyshaped Gold Nanoparticles and Its Application in Catalysis
Journal Title: International Journal of Research in Chemistry and Environment (IJRCE) - Year 2013, Vol 3, Issue 2
Abstract
The stem extract of Ocimum sanctum, a well known aromatic herb of great medicinal importance, has been used for the synthesis of gold nanoparticles at room temperature under very mild condition without any extra stabilizing or capping agents. The size of the nanoparticles could be controlled by varying the concentration of the stem extract. The gold nanoparticles were characterized by Surface Plasmon Resonance Spectroscopy, HRTEM, Energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy and X-Ray diffraction studies. The catalytic activity of the synthesized gold nanoparticles has also been demonstrated

Kinetics and Hydrolysis Mechanism of 2,4-dichlorofenoxyacetic acid
The hydrolytic transformation kinetics of the 2,4-dichlorofenoxyacetic acid (2,4-D) was investigated as a function of pH. The hydrolysis rate was pH-dependent and the first order. The hydrolysis was much faster in acidic...
Phytotoxicity analysis of Textile Effluent and Relative Germination Study on Dicot Seeds
The chemicals present in the textile effluent are not only poisonous to humans but also found toxic to the growth of plants and aquatic life. Certain pollutants in textile waste water are more important to targe...
Removal of Phenol from Aqueous Solution onto Modified Fly Ash
The purpose of this study was to investigate the possibility of the utilization of coal fly ash as a low cost adsorbent. Experiments were conducted to evaluate the removal of phenol from aqueous solution by fly ash under...
Physico-Chemical Studies of Binary Mixture of Triethylene Glycol Monomethyl Ether and Water at T= (298.15, 308.15, 318.15, 328.15) K
The densities and viscosities η have been measured as a function of composition for the binary mixtures of triethylene glycol monomethyl ether with water at (298.15,308.15,318.15, 328.15)K From the experimental data,...
Effects of Magnetized Low Quality Water on Some Soil Properties and Plant Growth
The aim of this study is to evaluate the effect of magnetic treatments on Tomato grown under saline irrigation conditions (Nile water, 1000, 3000, 6000, 9000 and 12000 ppm). In doing so, three replicates of pot...
