Ból dolnego odcinka kręgosłupa u osób starszych. Możliwe przyczyny oraz skuteczność ćwiczeń wzmacniających

Journal Title: Rehabilitacja w Praktyce - Year 2018, Vol 1, Issue 1

Abstract

Low back pain (LBP) is one of the leading causes of health problems in the developed world. The incidence and prevalence of severe and chronic LBP increase with age. The majority of LBP cases among the elderly has no definite pathology and is diagnosed as non- -specific LBP. Potential causes of non-specific LBP are sacroiliac joint pain and myofascial pain. Specific LBP may be associated with osteoarthritis, spondylolisthesis, disc herniation with nerve root involvement, osteoporotic vertebral fractures, cancer, de novo degenerative lumbar scoliosis, vertebral osteomyelitis, visceral diseases, and cauda equina syndrome. One of the effective forms of the treatment of non-specific LBP are strengthening exercises, which should be performed by the elderly according to specific rules.
