Abstract
The review gives a positive assessment to a publication dedicated to the history of the study of an outstanding discovery of 20th century Kazakhstan archaeology which became a world cultural asset – Issyk burial mound. The reviewed book provides a comprehensive characteristic of the site, which was studied by a group of specialists from Ch.Ch. Valikhanov Institute of History and Ethnology headed by K. A. Akishev. The narrative style of the authors is organically complemented by rare black-and-white and colour photographs taken by a professional photographer. The book presents a logical sequence of events since the discovery of the site in the last century until its museumification, which has become possible in our time.
