Abstract
The article deals with theoretical and practical aspects of business career management. The views of scientists on the notion of business career have been systematized; essence, characteristics, differences, advantages, and disadvantages of different types of career growth have been clarified; motivational factors under horizontal and vertical promotion of employees the career ladder have been identified.
