CAPILLARY LEAK SYNDROME ASSOCIATED WITH ACUTE RESPIRATORY FAILURE AND RHABDOMYOLISIS
Journal Title: Medical Connections/Conexiuni Medicale - Year 2009, Vol 4, Issue 2
Abstract
Capillary leak syndrome is a rare idiopathic disorder syndrome. The syndrome is characterized by recurring attacks of increased capillary permeability resulting in leakage of plasma proteins through capillary wall, leading to hypovolemic shock, hemoconcentration and rhabdomyolisis. The treatment is supportive during the attacks and the main efforts are concentrating on prevention by salbutamol, plasmapheresis and steroids.
