Journal Title: International Journal of Physical and Social Sciences (IJPSS) - Year 2012, Vol 2, Issue 3
Abstract
In the present investigation carbon sequestrationpotentialofsix year young age AnnonaretiaculataandAnnonasquamosaspecies from the university campus of Aurangabad is measured. The rate of carbon sequestered aboveground biomass was estimated using the ash method. The percentageof carbon content in the aboveground biomass in leaves, stem, subbranches and bark of Annonaretiaculata(except root) were 53.67 + 2.08 %, 57.24 + 0 %, 55.24 + 0.13% and 53.08 + 1.17%respectively, and inAnnonasquamosathere were52.08 + 0.24%, 55.09 + 3.04%, 55.33 + 0.41% and 56.01 + 2.45%respectively.The total above ground biomass carbon stalk per hectare as estimated for Annonaretiaculata was 83.1Kg C ha-1andfor Annonasquamosa it was73.5KgC ha-1 in University campus.
