Cardiovascular Status and Blood Lipids in Childhood-Onset Growth Hormone Deficiency in Young Adults (Literature Review and Own Observations)

Abstract

The analysis of scientific literature on the features of clinical course of childhood-onset growth hormone deficiency (GHD) in young adults has been carried out. The focus was on the state of lipid metabolism, as well as on the state of cardiovascular system in patients with GHD who did not receive treatment with recombinant growth hormone (rGH). Own data obtained when examining young adults with GHD before rGH treatment and on its background are provided. The presence of significant disorders of the lipid, carbohydrate metabolism and cardiac parameters in patients who did not receive a long-term pathogenetic treatment, as well as improvements following rGH administration are established.
