CENSORSHIPIN UKRAINIAN PROVINCES OF THE RUSSIAN EMPIRE IN THE «STOLYPIN MODERNIZATION» PERIOD

Abstract
The peculiarities of the work of special organs of oversight of the seal in the Ukrainian provinces of the Russian Empire at the beginning of the 20th century are highlighted. The author's special attention is focused on the special administrative measures of the provincial government and local censorship bodies, which were aimed at restoring full control over the information space of the region in the post-revolutionary period. In the article the author proved that during the Stolypin modernization (1907−1911) the Authorities were able to neutralize opposition criticism. The work of censorship in this period was directed to the destruction of the opposition, Ukrainian-language press. It was possible to get rid of the sale and public use of literature that was published or imported from abroad during the revolutionary period.
