Changes and Opportunities Created by the Economic Situation and European Regulation 461/2010 in the Automotive Aftersales Market

Abstract

The economic situation, car sales dropping, the growing age of a car park, and the European Commission Regulation 461/2010 are contributing to increasing competition among existing aftersales market companies, and are providing an opportunity for independent aftersales market companies to compete with the manufacturers’ authorized companies. Independent spare parts wholesalers in the Baltic States have an opportunity to develop and offer an alternative to car manufacturers’ authorized workshops. The article introduces also discussion about car drivers repair habits in Latvia in accordance with the author’s survey.
