Changes in the convoluted tubules of the kidneys at the administration of NADP on the background of streptozotocin-induced diabetes mellitus in rats
Journal Title: Міжнародний ендокринологічний журнал - Year 2017, Vol 13, Issue 8
Abstract
Background. The objective of the study was to investigate the changes in kidney tubular structures during nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate (NADP) administration on a background of streptozotocin-induced diabetes mellitus (DM) in rats. Materials and methods. The experiments were performed on male white rats, with modeled DM by administration of streptozotocin at a dose of 70 mg/kg. NADP was administered at a dose of 30 mg/kg. We studied the structure of the kidneys on the 11th, 21st and 31st day of the experiment. Results. In contrast to the classical methods of staining, early changes in various kidney structures were detected using a histochemical method based on the staining of histological sections with bromophenol blue by the method of Mikel Calvo. Conclusions. In general, the kidney structures showed a positive reaction to the administration of NADP, which may be determined by a reduction in the direct damaging effect of hyperglycemia, both due to a reduction in the number of glycosylated proteins and the direct positive effects on the endothelial cells.
