CHARACTERISITIC, SKILLS AND ABILITIES TYPICAL OF A MILITARY LEADER AS PERCEIVED BY OFFICER - CADETS

Abstract
The article refers to the research conducted at the Land Forces Military Academy (WSOWL) between 2005 and 2007 that embraced officer-cadets studying for a bachelor’s degree in management.Taking account of the all-roundness of education and an officer’s community-oriented personality traits, as the desirable characteristics in military service, the main focus of research investigations is to resolve the problem as expressed in the form of questions: Which of the indicated types of knowledge, skills, abilities and personality traits are of vast significance for WSOWL’s officer-cadets in being an officer? Does the Academy’s educational system alter officer-cadets’ recognition of the significance of those characteristics? If so, to what extent?While undertaking the research, it was hypothesised that it is the process of teaching and development at the three-year bachelor’s studies that has the major impact on officer-cadets’ recognition and altering the degree of significance of the indicated types of knowledge, skills, abilities and personality traits in being an officer.
