Journal Title: RHS-Revista Humanismo y Sociedad - Year 2024, Vol 12, Issue 2
Abstract
The pandemic generated by COVID-19 is a reality that challenged the entire society, including the medical, scientific, social, economic, and political spheres. The nations of the world deployed their enormous efforts to effectively counteract the adverse effects of the virus. Colombia did not escape this reality, especially the department of Risaralda and the municipality of Dosquebradas, territories that are the subject of this analysis. The purpose of this article is to characterize the deaths from COVID-19 that occurred in 2020 in the municipality, to provide a detailed overview of the impact of the pandemic in the region. To do this, the total number of deaths from the virus during the immediately preceding year was taken as a reference, to conduct a statistical analysis within the parameters of ethics and, finally, show the results that account for the characterization and give rise to the respective discussion.
