Abstract
Article characterizes the use of LNG as a potential source of vessels propulsion. Due to the entry into force of Directive 2012/33 / EU of the European Parliament and of the Council in the article, the demand for transport of liquefied natural gas in ECA areas has been characterized. LNG is an alternative solution for shipowners to minimize pollution emissions for the environment. This specific fuel, taking into account the properties requires a transport in appropriate conditions. The types of ships adapted for LNG transport are indicated in the paper. LNG bunkering operations have also been described, and ships that can execute these the function are enumerated.
