CHOICE AND CREATION OF SERIOUS GAMES TO TEACH ADULTS

Abstract
The purpose of the article is to help Ukrainian educators get oriented on the market of serious games, be able to select games offered by developers, know the advantages and restrictions for usage or creation serious games for teaching adults in class. Methods. General scientific methods of research (theoretical analysis, comparative analysis, synthesis, comparison, generalization) with the purpolse of studying methodological literature on problems of researching educational learning materials, which characterize the practice of serious games usage in adults teaching process. Results. The article analyzes offers from modern developers of “serious games” both in the countries of Western Europe, Canada and in Ukraine; it gives a list of games for adults to choose from and proves appropriateness of the given recommendations; it provides advantages and restrictions of the choice to use or create a serious game to improve the process of teaching adults, the advantages and disadvantages of different approaches to use serious games have been considered. Conclusions. Nowadays serious games are regarded as new teaching solutions which fill the misbalance between multimedia interactive modern society and the system of classic knowledge transfer. So a current market of serious games is various which determines a wide choice for a modern educator who teaches adults. “Home” game products or special purpose products are the first choice on the market of serious games for Ukrainian teachers which causes the necessity to adapt a game for a course or a course for a game. The creation of a game for a discipline is possible only on condition of cooperation with students.
