CITIES AS PLACE OF TRANSFORMATION IN TURKEY: URBAN TRANSFORMATION
Journal Title: The Journal of International Social Research - Year 2015, Vol 8, Issue 39
Abstract
Each mode of production produces a type of city or space, which in legal, political, ideological and social relations can be felt over this space, can be seen and become readable. We know these from the studies related to the spaces conducted by Lefebvre and Harvey. Therefore, a new liberalism, which represents a mode of production, has been implemented in the world since the second half of the 1970s. We need to understand the changes created by this mode of production in Turkey’s urban areas. In Turkey, it is known that urban transformation is in place, and this is one of the important examples, which depends on the change in the mode of production. These finding sare generally correct based on research about these topics, however new class and not taken into account. These are only the second option and cyclical strategy in order to over come the obstacles during local accumulation process. This approach is a factor that complicates our understanding of class conflicts.
