CIVIC EDUCATION IN FRANCE: MODERN CONTEXT

Abstract
The article reveals the essence of civility and the best experience of France concerning civiс education. In the article, the basic provisions of the Regulation of the Ministry of National Education dated 12.07.2015 are presented: civic and moral education; basic principles of civic education: the principle of autonomy, discipline principle, the principle of coexistence of freedoms, and the principle of citizens’ community. Fundamental values of the Republic are described: freedom, equality, brotherhood, secularity, solidarity and non-discrimination. The author determines the role of educational institutions in civil education of young individuals. The content of the educational subject «Civil and moral education» is described; its criteria of efficiency are revealed: social sensitivity, understanding, culture of reasoning, the ability to act.
