Climatic Zoning of West by Multivariate Statistical Methods
Journal Title: Journal of Science and today’s world - Year 2015, Vol 4, Issue 6
Abstract
Weather divisions and identifying the most important elements affecting every area is one way of knowing the identity of climatic zones. The purpose of current study was to climatic zoning of western provinces based on a new statistical technique such as statistical analysis and cluster analysis in GIS Environment. After selecting the maximum number of climate elements for stations we tried to indentify the most important variables in the framework of the Western Region by reaching the best rotation loadings so we could form a suitable climate classifying on the basis of an area. To perform the analysis required in order to climatic zone provinces of west country including Ilam, Lorestan, Kermanshah, Hamedan and Kurdistan 29 climate element stations were used in a shared 15-year period (1996-2010) for 16 synoptic stations in the mentioned provinces. New methods of research in the present study include generalized network values and its cluster analysis. The results of the analysis showed that 6 factors together can explain more than 85 percent of the region's climate behavior. Cluster analysis was performed with Euclidean distance and Ward's method on six factors and the region was divided to five areas of moderate rainy, cold and moderate windy, hot and dusty semiarid, moderate/hot semiarid and sunny semiarid. Hot and dusty semiarid formed most of the area which was distributed in the four provinces and it seems like it will even be expanded due to severe dust storms in the western half of the country in the recent years.
