Clinical aspects of application of selected anterior deprogrammers
Journal Title: Prosthodontics - Year 2017, Vol 67, Issue 4
Abstract
Neuromuscular deprogramming by means of anterior deprogrammers is considered by many authors to be the gold standard for functional rehabilitation of occlusion, determination of centric relation and management of selected temporomandibular disorders. However, deprogrammers also find their opponents who claim that these devices have many disadvantages and that their clinical suitability is limited only to the initial phase of prosthodontic rehabilitation. Others claim that they have no clinical suitability and that their effect on obtaining the correct position of the condyle in the glenoid fossa and restoring the physiological function of the masticatory muscles is clinically irrelevant. The aim of this paper is to look objectively at facts concerning the clinical applications of selected anterior deprogrammers.
