Journal Title: Indian Journal of Microbiology Research - Year 2018, Vol 5, Issue 1
Abstract
Objective To find out the bacteriological profile of post burn infections in woundPlace and duration of study Vijayanagar institute of medical sciences ballari over a period of one year from 1st January 201431st December 2014Study design ProspectiveMaterials and Methods Swabs were collected from the burn wounds using standard methods and cultured for the growth of the bacteriaThe organisms isolated were identified by standard microbiological methods following which antimicrobial susceptibility test was done by Kirbybaeur disk diffusion testResults The predominant organism isolated from swab culture was Pseudomonas aeruginosa23 followed by Staphylococcus aureus22 Ecoli14 Kpneumoniae9 Koxytoca8 CONS7 Proteus mirabilis5 Cfreundii4 and Ckoseri3others3 and sterile culture3The antibiogram of Pseudomonas aeruginosa showed high susceptibility to Imipenem 81 PiperacillinTazobactam 78 Amikacin76 Ceftazidime60 and low susceptibility to Gentamicin57 Tobramycin57 Cefotaxime47 and Ceftriaxone39Total resistance pattern was noted in Ampicillin Cotrimoxazole CiprofloxacinKeywords Antibiotic susceptibility Burn wounds Pseudomonas aeruginosa

Antibiotic Effect of Tigecycline on Gram Negative Bacilli
Introduction: Resistance to multiple antibiotics among Gram negative bacilli (GNB) is high in India. Tigecycline, a glycylcycline antibiotic is a newer treatment option for emerging single or multidrug-resistant (MDR) GN...
Speciation and antibiogram of Staphylococcus isolated in a tertiary care centre
Introduction: Staphylococcus have become common cause of skin and soft tissue infections. Resistance to a number of drugs have increased and methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and inducible clindamycin re...
Etiological profile, Clinical features and risk factors of Otomycosis at a tertiary care hospital
Aims and Objectives: Otomycosis is a fungal infection of middle ear with infrequent complications involving middle ear. In an era of modern medicine generous use of antibiotics and advanced management give way to many op...
Detection of Chlamydia Trachomatis infection among symptomatic women of reproductive age group attending the gynaecology OPD in a tertiary care centre and risk factors associated with the infection
Chlamydia trachomatis infection is the most common sexually transmitted bacterial infection worldwide, affecting women more than men. Majority being asymptomatic, this infection goes unnoticed and will have a major impac...
Speciation of Enterococcal Isolates in a Tertiary Care Hospital and Molecular Characterisation of Vancomycin Resistant Enterococci (VRE)
Background: Enterococci are gram positive cocci which reside as commensal microbial flora in gastrointestinal tract, vagina, biliary tract and male urethra. E.faecalis is the predominant species followed by E.faecium. Re...
