Statistical significance value between the groups in SES, LOT-R score and Academic score was observed in NIMS institute but not for SV. Low level correlation (.214) was observed in academic score of NIMS students with their LOT-R score level. Statistical significance as per gender in SES, LOT-R score and academic score was observed for NIMS not SV students. In NIMS, Jaipur there are certain positive factors which have modified the academic performance of the students while no such effect is observed among SV students. There are hidden factors affecting students’ performance which needs to be explored further. Keywords:Optimism, socio-economic status, academic performance, interest, medical students
