Collision risk mitigating system for light rail vehicles (LRV)
Journal Title: Archives of Mechanical Technology and Materials - Year 2018, Vol 38, Issue
Abstract
This piece is dedicated to description of the development of collision risk mitigating system. Proposed concept of control system is designed to enhance safety of passengers, driver and other people in vicinity of light rail vehicles (tramways). Requirements were fulfilled thanks to application of lidar sensor and feature of vehicle positioning on the track map created based on precise measurements with the use of satellite navigation system Real Time Kinematic. Map allows to eliminate errors of system operation and to enhance resistance to unfavorable ambient conditions, i.e. temperature or fog. System calculates work braking distance for particular vehicle speed. In case of obstacle detection which is closer to vehicle than the calculated braking distance, driver is informed about collision risk with a buzzer and optical signalization. System has already been implemented and tested.

Laser borided composite layer produced on austenitic 316L steel
Austenitic 316L steel is well-known for its good resistance to corrosion and oxidation. Therefore, this material is often used wherever corrosive media or high temperatures are to be expected. The main drawback of this m...
Surface condition, microstructure and microhardness of boronized layers produced on Vanadis-6 steel after modification by diode laser
The paper presents the study results of surface condition, microstructure and microhardness of Vanadis-6 tool steel after diffusion boriding and laser modification by diode laser. As a result of diffusion boriding the la...
Open loop control of piezoelectric tube transducer
This paper is focused on the open loop control of a piezoelectric tube actuator, hindered by a strong hysteresis. The actuator was distinguished with 22 % hysteresis, which hinders the positioning of piezoelectric actuat...
The numerical investigation of thin-walled beams with modified C-sections
Demand for thin-walled structures has been increasing for many years. Cold-formed, thin-walled channel beams are the subject of presented research. The local elastic buckling and limit load of these beams subjected to pu...
The use of IR thermography to show the mold and part temperature evolution in injection molding
This study concerns the application of infrared camera for injection molding analysis by measuring temperatures of both injection molded parts and injection mold cavities in a function of injection cycles. The mold with...
