Abstract
In this study, we’ll examine the way is treated the identification of linguistic classes in terms of André Martinet’s functionalism. To do so, we’ll first present the problem of linguistic classes in traditional grammar. Then we’ll briefly present some of the basic characteristics of André Martinet’s functionalist linguistics and finalize our article with some personal suggestions.
