COMMUNICATION SKILLS AS AN ESSENTIAL COMPONENT OF ENGINEERING STUDENTS EDUCATION

Abstract
Introduction. The research is relevant due to the objective needs of building an integrated system of language teaching at agricultural universities, as well as developing of methodological tools to improve students’ communication skills as a pledge of their future professional success. Methods. Improvement of scientific and methodological approaches to the formation of students’ communicative skills at agrarian and engineering universities is provided by implementation of a diagnostic breakdown of the level of oral and written communication skills. Moreover, this approach highlights the immediate problems that these students face in the process of communication in the professional sphere, and helps to outline ways to more effective organization of agricultural universities graduates training process. Results. Among the factors that adversely affect the formation of communication skills of students of agricultural and technical universities, we single out the attitude of engineering students to the need to improve communication skills; insufficiently thoughtful filling of courses; disadvantages of teaching methods; lack of opportunities to practice communication skills. Disscusion. Further investigations are needed to clarify the conditions for successful acquisition of communication skills by students of agricultural and technical educational institutions.
