Comparing the Efficiency of Active and Traditional Teaching Method on Learning of Students in fifth class of Primary School in the view of Teachers in Amol City in 2013

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the efficiency of active and traditional teaching method on learning the of fifth class primary school students in the view of teachers in Amol for academic year of 2014-2015. The methodology of this study is descriptive of surveying type. The population of this study includes all teachers –male and female- in the fifth class of primary school in academic year of 2011-2012 in Amol. According to the latest statistics, the number of male and female teachers in the fifth class of primary school was 165. In this study, there has been used of random cluster sampling method and proportional to the size of population referring to Morgan table to select 113 teachers in the primary school, fifth class as sample. The data collection tools in this study included author-made questionnaire as well as library method. To attain the validity of the questionnaire, it was sent to the authorized professors and supervisor and advisor and after some deletions and additions, its validity was confirmed. To ensure the reliability of the questionnaire, according to Cronbach Alpha Test, its value equaled to 0.84 indicating that the questions in the questionnaire came with internal coordination together with a reliable questionnaire. To test the hypotheses of the study, because data were normalized, there was used parametric statistical t-test for independent groups. SPSS software was used for statistical analysis. By reviewing the results of this study, it made clear that the efficiency of active and traditional teaching method on the academic progress and self-esteem of students in fifth class of primary school was different in the view of teachers.
