Journal Title: The Journal of International Social Research - Year 2016, Vol 9, Issue 44

Abstract

Performance anxiety that concerns both amateurs and professionals from all ages, is one of the main challenges that lots of students face during their music education especially in the educational process. In this study, it has been aimed to determine the effects of performance anxiety on students from AbantİzzetBaysal University Faculty of Education Department of Fine Arts Department of Music Education and from BülentEcevit University State Conservatory. Moreover this study embraces 82 students, getting training at the level of bachelor degree chosen through unbiased assignment. As these two institutes whose aims and goals are different from each other give stage oriented education and advanced level of art works it is considered that anxiety level should be lower in conservatory but on account of intensive pedagogical formation education and lack of stage training it is thought to have a negative effect on stage anxiety for department of music education students. In this study Music Performance Anxiety Inventory for Adolescents developed by M. S. Osborne and D. T. Kenny (2005) has been used.
