Comparison of Energy Consumption in the Classical (PID) and Fuzzy Control of Foundry Resistance Furnace
Journal Title: Archiwum Odlewnictwa - Year 2012, Vol 12, Issue 3
Abstract
Foundry resistance furnaces are thermal devices with a relatively large time delay in their response to a change in power parameters. Commonly used in automation classical PID controllers do not meet the requirements of high-quality control. Developed in recent years, fuzzy control theory is increasingly being used in various branches of economy and industry. Fuzzy controllers allow to introduce new developments in control systems of foundry furnaces as well. Correctly selected fuzzy controller can significantly reduce energy consumption in a controlled thermal process of heating equipment. The article presents a comparison of energy consumption by control system of foundry resistance furnace, equipped with either a PID controller or fuzzy controller optimally chosen.

Relational database as a basis for formalization of technological knowledge ontology
In the paper, we present the main assumptions of ontology formulation and knowledge modeling in the form of relational database. This approach simplifies the development of knowledge mining tools which may use SQL togeth...
Analysis of the applicability of domain ontology in copper alloys processing
Efficient use of corporate resources in the form of intellectual capital is due in large measure to effectiveness of knowledge codification and distribution systems. Making intellectual resources available to employees i...
Heat-insulating moulding sand with the glycol addition
The article presents a selection of the composition and basic properties of highly insulating moulding sand. Sandmix is designed especially for thin-walled castings with high tendency to oxidation - particularly in spati...
Phase transformations and microstructure of IN-713C nickel superalloy
The study presents the results of investigations of phase transformations taking place during melting and solidification and of microstructural examinations carried out on the family of IN 713C nickel superalloys. Examin...
The analysis of carbon attendance in copper alloys as reason of gas porosity
In the work show, that opinions the leaning on it dissolubilities of carbon can be recognized (and only in approximation) only for copper about large purity. They do not concern it her mostly multiple alloys, at which th...
