COMPETITIVENESS OF YOUNG PROFESSIONALS ON MODERN LABOR MARKET

Abstract

Purpose is to investigate the current state of youth employment and competitiveness; to determine causes of youth unemployment; to establish main directions of improving the competitiveness of young professionals in the labor market; to elucidate ways to overcome youth unemployment in Ukraine. Methodology of research. For writing an article were used such kinds of methods: monographic description for a detailed study of the competitiveness of young professionals in today’s job market; logical synthesis to justify the scientific concepts and formulate conclusions and proposals; system analysis to consider the youth labor market as a complex system; analysis and synthesis to define the conceptual bases of research interpretation and implementation of basic concepts; graphic charts and graphs for visual imaging of material. Findings. The main causes of youth unemployment and low competitiveness of young people on the labor market of Ukraine, the main ones are: the imbalance between supply and demand in the labor market; discrimination against young professionals the first employment; discrepancy number of graduates to labor market needs. Examples overcome youth unemployment and improving the competitiveness of young specialists in foreign countries (Britain and Germany). These statistics are analyzed, as youth unemployment, the number of officially registered unemployed minimum wage in comparison with EU countries, supply and demand in the labor market. The ways of overcoming youth unemployment in Ukraine, bringing proposed measures such as: balance the educational system with the needs of the labor market; create new jobs, particularly in the context of the promotion of small and medium enterprises; create conditions for the consolidation of young professionals in positions by providing graduates first job, and conduct training institutions and enterprises to provide young professionals experience. Originality. The directions of solving youth unemployment and ways to improve the competitiveness of young professionals were identified in this article. In particular, it is advisable to increase financing campaigns which deals with employment of young specialists; to support business creation among young people; to initiate the development of innovative forms of employment and self-employment among young people. Practical value. The study results and proposed solutions of the issue can be used by public authorities, in particular, in the framework of public employment service for the improvement of the youth labor market functioning.
