COMPONENTS AND FORMS OF CORRUPTION

Abstract
Analyzing different aspects of corruption embedded in multiple definitions and legal assessments of acts of corruption, it is necessary to generalize certain specific components referring to the act of corruption. Among them we highlight: abuse of office; bribery; receiving undue benefits; influence peddling; conflict of interest; protectionism. Depending on the extent of corruption in literature, but also in national documents on combating and preventing corruption we can see a division of corruption in “big corruption” and “small corruption”. Big corruption is associated with higher level functions and major decision-makers and serious fraud, extortion, up to organized crime. Small corruption has the greatest impact on public perception because it is the most widespread form of corruption manifested by bribery of officials from various domains such as education, health institutions, police, etc.
