COMPOSITION, STRUCTURE AND PHYSICAL-MECHANICAL PROPERTIES OF PAVING BITUMENS

Abstract
Classical concepts of the composition, surface and rheological properties of bitumen, and the peculiarities of its aging are described. The arguments are presented in favor of considering the structure of paving bitumen as solutions of asphaltenes and resins and close to them in structure and molecular weight resins in a medium of oils and low molecular resins. Structural changes due to temperature variations of bitumen are analyzed.
