Journal Title: International Journal of Ayurveda & Alternative Medicine - Year 2016, Vol 4, Issue 6

Abstract

In recent years, health levels are decreasing due to changes in life style, diet pattern, mental stress and strain. So many diseases occur due to abnormal physiology of digestion. Sharir vriddhi and kshaya depend on Agni (Digestive fire). Grahani (part of Mahasrotas) is main seat of Agni. Now a day because of changing lifestyle, there is tremendous increase in disorders related to Mahasrotas. Amlapitta is one of the diseases of Mahasrotas caused due to Mandagni. The aim & objectives of this study was to study the concept of Amlapitta w.s.r. to Mahasrotas. All the relevant material was compiled from Ayurvedic compendium. Research articles are also searched from various websites. All the references were collected & analyzed & finally conclusion was drawn. Present study concludes that though pitta is a major Dosha vitiated in Amlapitta it is associated with Kapha and Vata. Therefore to eradicate it from its roots, Vamana karma is very useful followed by Virechana karma in Amlapitta.
