CONCEPT OF GEOSPHERE AND EARTH SHELLS IN ACADEMICIAN V.I. VERNADSKYI’ SCIENTIFIC HERITAGE

Abstract
The introductory part of the article summarizes the main stages of academic education and academic activity of Academician V.I. Vernadsky. His connections with Ukraine are shown, a decisive role in the formation of the Ukrainian Academy of Sciences. The concept of geospheres and earth shells, scientifically substantiated, is important for geographic science,. The article describes its main provisions, defines these concepts, their content. The geosphere and earth shells, their boundaries, identified by the relevant features are characterized by the scientists. Also, the notion of the biosphere as the main earth shell and the noosphere as a stage of the evolution of the biosphere, when the humanity mental activity becomes a decisive factor in its development, is considered.
