CONCEPTUAL ISSUES OF THE DEVELOPMENT OF CULTURAL AND NATIONAL IDENTITY OF ADOLESCENTS

Abstract

The article focuses on the theoretical aspect of formation of national and cultural identity of senior teenagers. The author analyzes scientific works of philosophers, psychologists and educators devoted to the theme. As a result, senior teenage years are considered as the most sensitive in terms of moral education, internalization of values, formation of moral qualities, understanding of one’s life, development of the self-concept. Moreover, teenagers at this age determine their national and cultural identity as a condition for further development and self-development. National and cultural identity has become a prism through which many important aspects of modern life are studied. In particular, these aspects include the problems of the nation and national self-determination. Contemporary Ukrainian society has experienced a difficult period of creating a new value system that primarily has a great impact on the educational process and should be taken into account by all its participants. It should be noted that the problem of cultural-national identity is still underestimated, at most, those issues related to the formation of the cultural and national identity of adolescents. First of all, the problem of cultural-national identity grows at the turn of times - the stages of a public crisis, when social contacts, rules, and behavioral stamps change and collapse. Adolescence is one of the most important, fragile periods of development of the cultural and national identity of the individual, the beginning of the formation of the indivisible Self, the deepening and spread of reflection, the awareness of its foundations, the compilation of spiritual self-esteem, the recognition of its internal macrocosm. Awareness of their cultural-national identity for teens is not just knowledge of oneself, but a dynamic setting, a certain attitude towards oneself.
