„Constanta Miculescu” o dovadă elocventă a unei cunoaşteri statistice experimentale profunde, în România finalului de secol al XIX - lea

Abstract
Această lucrare este de fapt un omagiu adus statisticii experimentale naționale, precum și personalităților acesteia, dintre care profesorul Constantin Miculescu constituie un reprezentant cu totul aparte, care a devenit în final și fondator al școlii naționale de fizică experimentală, deținând în paralele contribuţii ştiintifice internaționale remarcabile privind echivalenţele dintre fenomenele mecanice şi termice. Din această abordare statistică foarte riguroasă a experimentelor s-a născut și celebra constantă ce îi poartă numele. După aproape 125 de ani, acest articol supune unei analize statistice descriptive amănunțite toate cele 31 de valori experimentale, care suțin argumetația tezei de doctorat a fizicianului la Paris, valori care au oferit determinarea cu cea mai mare precizie a echivalentului mecanic al caloriei. Articolul constituie un pretext pentru a dezvălui în paralel cu certitudinile lui Constantin Miculescu legate de aproximarea sa estimată la nivelul celei de a treia zecimale și fundamentarea unei școli de statistică experimentală axată pe rigoare și profunzime a cunoașterii statistice. În esență gândirea sa statistică experimentală este astfel reamintită și redovedită ca fiind una aproape fără de cusur și benficiind de o putere de anticipație a importanței sale științifice cu cel puțin o generație sau două înaintea altor abordări similare în cercetarea românească.
