Contemporary informal Jewish education in Poland – a SWOT analysis
Journal Title: Educational Psychology - Year 2015, Vol 49, Issue 7
Abstract
The purpose of the study was to explore and describe contemporary informal education created by the Jewish community in Poland. Eight people (six women and two men) took part in the study. The interviewees were people who actively participated in the Jewish community, volunteers or employees of Jewish institutions in Poland. A case study was used as a research method, and a narrative expert interview and documentation analysis as research techniques. The Author conducted the study herself in Cracow, Warsaw and Szczecin between May and October 2013. The findings made it possible to determine the sender and receiver of informal education, the contents that were communicated in the educational process and the forms that were used for this communication. The article also describes the motivations of the study organizers and participants and discusses the SWOT analysis of informal Jewish education in detail.
