Contextualized strategies to improve geometric thinking in high school students

Abstract

Geometric thinking is an ability that is acquired throughout the life of the subject, according to the evolutionary stages. This mental process is used to understand the three-dimensional thinking of space. That is why, its study occupies a place in the school curriculum, due to the contribution it offers to the formation of individuals, which allows giving strategies, skills and tools for their performance in life. The objective of the research was to carry out a study of the strategies of contextualized situations that improve geometric thinking in students of fourth grade of secondary education of the Educational Institution "Túpac Amaru", Tumbes-2020. In this sense, the research was framed in a quantitative approach, cross-sectional, non-experimental design, field research type, with a descriptive level.For this purpose, a sample of 35 fourth grade high school students of the Educational Institution was selected; the data collection technique was the survey and its instrument was the test. The statistical study was used as a data analysis technique. According to the results, it was identified the low level of geometric thinking of students, which are evidenced in tables, according to statistical standards, so there is a need to focus on the problem, proposing the strategies of contextualized situations, the fundamental purpose of this research
