CORINTHIAN CAPITALS FROM SALAMIS ROMAN BATH

Abstract

Some Corinthian capitals recently uncovered in excavation at Roman Bath in in the Ancient City of Salamis, evaluated in terms of style development. Due to the take place in the east coast of the island of Cyprus, ties with the eastern Mediterranean as in early times was continued during the Roman Period. Besides the association with the eastern Mediterranean, geographical proximity to the coast of Cilicia, when considering the administrative dependence, suggests an inevitable interaction. The absence of marble material in the island, in terms of architectural materials Cyprus has demonstrated that non dependent.
