CULTURAL DETERMINANT IN PROFESSIONALLY ORIENTED TRAINING THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE: THEORETICAL ASPECT

Abstract

The article deals with the study of culturological determinants in the professionally oriented training the English language from the theoretical point of view, which makes it possible to link it (culturological determinant) with the person and its activities, and thus to distinguish professional cultures – the result of the differentiation and professionalization of human activity. The research methodology is based on the application of key methods of culturology, linguistic culturological studies, intercultural communication, etc. The scientific novelty of the work is to clarify the definition of the notion of “professional culture” and its consideration through the prism of social functions, as well as the proof of the postulate that part of the professional culture, attributed to the person as a result of education and acquisition of labour experience, acts as a professional competence of a specialist. It is specified that professional culture is a multidimensional sociocultural space, in which professional activity takes place and in the context of which professional communication takes place; as well as an integrative personal characteristic of the typical representative of a particular professional group. An attempt is made to prove that culture is created by a person in order to perform certain social functions, among which the following can be traced: activity, cognitive, regulatory, symbolic (semiotic or sign) functions. It has been proved that the professional communication is necessary for transformation of professional knowledge and experience, coordination of actions in labour operations, association of representatives of one professional community.
