Abstract

The cultural environment of a country affects its domestic as well as the foreign policy. As a matter of fact, since the revolution in 1979, the Islamic Republic of Iran has attached considerable importance to culture and cultural promotion and propaganda in its foreign policy. In this context, Iran has utilised its culture and language as a soft power apparatus in its foreign policy. This article will deliberate on the place of culture as an element of soft power in Iran's foreign policy while examining the cultural diplomacy activities implemented after the Islamic Revolution.
