Current status and prospects of sugarcane pokkah boeng disease

Abstract
"Sugarcane pokkah boeng disease was a fungal disease outbreak in recent years，which had been recorded in almost all countries where sugarcane is grown commercially and causes serious damage to sugarcane industry all over the world. Sugarcane pokkah boeng disease became a serious threat to the sugarcane production and sugar development in China. At present，the breeding of surgarcane variety resistant to pokkah boeng is the best way to prevent sugarcane pokkah boeng disease. However，the broad range of research endeavors of sugarcane pokkah boeng disease and breeding of disease resistance is material weaknesses in China. Progress and current situation of sugarcane pokkah boeng about occurrence，harm，pathogen and resistance mechanism was summarized. Some useful techniques for resistance identification，integrated control and disease-resistance breeding were introduced. The current problems and new prospects of sugarcane pokkah boeng research were also discussed."
