DAMAGE DETECTION – ACHIEVEMENTS AND NEW CHALLENGES
Journal Title: Romanian Journal of Acoustics and Vibration - Year 2013, Vol 10, Issue 2
Abstract
In last decades the interest in the capability to monitor structures and detect damage in the incipient stage is omnipresent in civil, mechanical and aerospace engineering. Actual damage detection methods are mainly locally oriented, based either on visual inspection or on experimental techniques; all these require that the damaged area is known and that the investigated portion of the structure is effortlessly accessible.

Finite Element Analysis of thin plates clamped on the rim of different geometric forms. Part I: Simulating the Vibration Mode Shapes and Natural Frequencies
This paper comprises an introductive part, in which theoretic notions regarding plates and their classification are presented, as well as stating some national and international researches published regarding the study a...
Linear Motion Profile Generation using a Danaher Thomson Actuator with Ball Screw Drive
A Danaher Thomson linear actuator with ball screw drive is used here to generate vibrations in the 1-3 Hz frequency range. More precisely, the linear motion profile corresponding to the vertical displacements induced und...
The influence of the damping coefficients to the hunting motion stability of the bogies
Conventional railway vehicle systems exhibit lateral instability phenomenon doe to selfinduced oscillations of the rigid axle wheelsets, which increases component wear and imposes operating speed limits. To improve the s...
Construction Equipment Noise Level Decreasing Coefficient – ΔL - Evaluation
The task of this work is the acoustic absorption coefficient variation study of sound absorbing structures and materials. Three construction equipments have been considered according to their different cabin design. Diff...
On the Seismic Cloaking
Geometric transformations are strongly sustained by manufacture of auxetic materials based on the pore size reduction through radial compression molds. In addition, geometric transformations underlie the development of s...
