DAYTIME ELECTRON DENSITY AT IONOSPHERIC F1-LAYER HEIGHTS DURING GEOMAGNETIC STORMS (IRKUTSK)
Journal Title: Solar-Terrestrial Physics - Year 2022, Vol 8, Issue 1
Abstract
We have examined variations in electron density Ne at ionospheric F1-layer heights during geomagnetic storms at the Irkutsk ionospheric station (52° N, 104° E). We have selected geomagnetic storms of varying intensity as well as quiet days for each event for the winter and summer seasons of 2003. We have analyzed the electron density in the daytime during geomagnetic storms at 150–190 km heights. Different effects of geomagnetic storms on Ne in different seasons at these heights were found. There is a slight change in the electron density during summer geomagnetic storms. On the other hand, there is an interesting effect in winter indicating the summer-winter asymmetry of the Ne response to the geomagnetic storms at these heights in 2003: in winter there is a significant influence of disturbances on Ne at a height of 190 km and a smaller effect at lower heights.

Spectral properties of solar wind plasma flux and magnetic field fluctuations across fast reverse interplanetary shocks
We have analyzed spectra of fluctuations in the solar wind plasma flux and the magnetic field magnitude near the front of a fast reverse shocks, using data from the BMSW device (Bright Monitor of Solar Wind) operating on...
Manifestation of solar activity and dynamics of the atmosphere in variations of 577.7 and 630.0 nm atmospheric emissions in solar cycle 24
In the paper, variations of the night emission intensities in the 557.7 and 630 nm atomic oxygen lines [OI] in 2011–2019 have been analyzed. The analysis is based on data from the ISTP SB RAS Geophysical Observatory. The...
Geomagnetic pulsations in 1–4 mHz frequency range (Pc5/Pi3) in the magnetotail at different levels of disturbances in the interplanetary medium
In this paper, we study parameters of geomagnetic pulsations in the 1–4 mHz frequency range (Pc5/Pi3) in the magnetotail, utilizing data obtained by Cluster satellites at different levels of fluctuations in the interplan...
ESTIMATED EQUIVALENT RADIATION DOSE AT DIFFERENT ALTITUDES IN EARTH’S ATMOSPHERE
The paper reports the results of simulation of cosmic ray proton transport through Earth’s atmosphere. The main objective of this work is to obtain characteristics of secondary particle fluxes at different altitudes and...
ICELAND SPAR AND BIREFRINGENT FILTER (BF) DEVELOPMENT
Birefringent crystals for BF are required to provide the necessary linear aperture, wavefront quality, and filter transmission in a given spectral region. Based on the review of foreign and domestic BF developments, the...
