Journal Title: Ankara Üniversitesi Sosyal Bilimler Dergisi - Year 2016, Vol 7, Issue 2
Abstract
Although many environmentalist movements claim the other way, capitalist production schemes does not need to bring environmental problems with them. Ecological problems can be solved maintaining the economic growth and the production increase. What causes ecological problems is not the quantity of the production but the quality of the production. Ecological problems that were intensified with industrialization can be solved with the opportunities that are brought by the new technological advancements. Perception of economical growth causes ecological problems can be broken. Ecologically modernising society can both sustain economical growth and ecological improvements at the same time. Ecological modernisation is a win-win scenario. The idea that ecological and economical aims can be matched is the pillar of the theory of ecological modernisation. Ecological modernisation is to encourage the economical and the political system to be sensitive to ecological problems. People and the governments should raise their ecological standards that are expected from the companies so that they are redirected to ecological innovations. For his approach to be successful technology and the style of management should be renovated together. Actually a sustainable economical growth and the environmental protection are mutually dependant. Renewable energy applications are successful realizations of the ecological modernisation theory in real life. Increasing renewable energy productions does not bring more environmental problems; on the contrary they bring solutions to many ecological problems starting with the global warming as the increase in the renewable energy production entails reductions in global fossil fuel utilizations and the carbon emissions.
