DEFOLIATION DEGREE OF PINE STANDS IN MUROWANA GOSLINA EXPERIMENTAL FOREST RANGE IN 1992-2012

Journal Title: Zarządzanie ochroną przyrody w lasach - Year 2014, Vol 0, Issue 1

Abstract

In the period of 1992-2012there was a marked decline in the defoliation level of pine stands in the territory of the Murowana Goślina Experimental Forest Range corresponding to a significant reduction in SO2 emissions in this area. This is caused by the relocation of trees between damage degrees. The majority of the change direction was: from 2a (moderate damage: defoliation 26-40%) to 1 (weak damage: defoliation 11-25%) and from 1 to 0 (no damage: defoliation 0-10 %). The performed studies confirmed a negative effect of SO2 emissions on the health status of pine stands. In addition to industrial emissions, the seasonal weather conditions and biotic factors had an unfavourable impact on pine stands.
