Design and application of automatic monitoring and controlling system for flotation column

Abstract

The control requirements and the principle of flotation column were analyzed and elaborated emphatically. The design method of the multivariate inputs/multivariate outputs is adopted. The controx2000 configuration software and PLC are selected as development tools. The level of the flotation column is examined by means of the float ball and the ultrasonic detector. By combining fuzzy control of the online self-adjusting parameters and control of PID and the aeration rate, the level and the product quality of flotation column are controlled. Air flow is detected by the metal rotameter, and cascade control is adopted for the air flow according to the change of the level. Such system can automatically monitor and control some important parameters (such as pulp level, air flow, washing water flow) and the foam condition, thus realizing the stable control of flotation column and assuring concentrate product quality. The application results show that monitoring and controlling system for flotation column runs in a good condition, improves the stability of concentrate product quality and achieves the prospective goal.
