Experimental study on viscosity properties of molten Zr50Cu50 alloy by rotating cylinder method

Abstract

The dynamic viscosity of molten Zr50Cu50 alloy was measured by using rotating cylinder method and its variation with temperature was explored. The experimental results showed that viscosity of the molten alloy increases with decreasing temperature and fits with Arrhenius formula. Between the temperature range from 1 208 K to 1 373 K, according to the change of viscosity, the molten alloy state can be divided into high-temperature region, mid-temperature region and low-temperature region. The two anomalous transition points were observed between the different temperature region in the viscosity and temperature graph. According to the changes of activation energy values, the microstructure of molten alloy could be changed.
