Determinants of gender inequalities and discrimination against women in the Polish labour market

Abstract
Despite the increasing number of women in the workforce, there is still evidence of gender inequality and economic discrimination against women in the Polish labour market. The main goal of the article is to present and evaluate the determinants of gender inequality and discrimination against women in the Polish labour market. The author defines the concept of gender inequality and economic discrimination and presents various forms and levels of discrimination against women in the labour market in the light of contemporary theories. These theoretical considerations are followed by an analysis of surveys on economic activation, employment, remunaration and promotion. In the last part of the article the author seeks to identify various forms of discrimination against women in the Polish market.
