Abstract

The article discusses the main issues concerning threats for forces' security re-sulting from the possibility to use improvised explosive devices (IEDs), problems how to define IEDs, their construction typology, as well as directions of possible changes in the Polish Armed Forces in order to counteract IEDs so as to ensure the forces' security and safety. These changes should include such areas as doctrines, training and education, structures and equipment, procedures and tactics of command bodies ' and subunits ' functioning and an appropriate information campaign.
