Determination of angle of attack for rotating blades
Journal Title: INCAS BULLETIN - Year 2012, Vol 4, Issue 2
Abstract
For a rotating blade the flow passing by a blade section is bended due to the rotation and the local flow field is influenced by the bound circulation on the blade. As a further complication, 3-D effects from tip and root vortices do a precise definition of the angle of attack (AOA) a difficult task. Two methods for determining the AOA on rotating blade from velocity and pressure measurements are presented.

Analysis of the wind influence on the aerodynamic drag in the case of a certain emplacement of the pantograph on the electric rail vehicles
The wind gusts with high speed can negative affect the operation of the railway electric vehicles. These vehicles can achieve high performances, as long as the power supply is ensured, without discontinuities or interrup...
Vortex theory of the ideal wind turbine
Based on the concepts outlined by Joukowsky nearly a century ago, an analytical aerodynamic optimization model is developed for rotors with a finite number of blades and constant circulation distribution. In the paper we...
Prediction of pilot induced oscillations
An important problem in the design of flight-control systems for aircraft under piloted control is the determination of handling qualities and pilot-induced oscillations (PIO) tendencies when significant nonlinearities e...
Optimization of flapping-wing micro aircrafts based on the kinematic parameters using genetic algorithm method
In this paper the optimization of kinematics, which has great influence in performance of flapping foil propulsion, is investigated. The purpose of optimization is to design a flapping-wing micro aircraft with appropriat...
